Mrs. Priest Hostess To Safnbrldge W. S. C. S. The Bainbridge W. S. C. S. met at the home of Mrs. Mary Priest on Thursday afternoon, July 6. Twenty members and one guest. Mrs. Cleo Tummcy, were present. Response to the roll call was a patriotic quotation. Mrs. Virgin Solomon gave the devotions, discussing post war planning. Mrs. Maude Carson invited the society to her home Wednesday afternoon, July 26. Each member is asked to bring a potted plant to sell. The pioceeds will go to the children’s home at Lebanon. A play will also be given at this social. The year's work for missions was discussed and planned. The society will meet with Mrs. Thelma Hess in August. S. C. C. Club To Meet Tuesday The S. C. Club will meet with Mrs. Aaron Arnold. Tuesday evening it 6:30 o’clock for a pitch-in dinner, ’lease bring table service.

TRFCKEK INJURED BRAZIL, Ind., July 10—(UP) — Earl Humphreys, Springfield, O, truck driver, remained in a hospital today suffering critical burns sustained in a collision which damaged his $10,000 cargo of automobile tires The truck driven by the Ohioan crashed into another which had stalled on U. S. Highway 40 east of Brazil and the wreckage caught finwhen a gasoline tank burst. Brazil firemen saved most of the tires.

G ATES TO OPEN CAMPAIGN WITH SEPTEMBER RALLY COLUMBIA CITY, Ind.. July 10 (UP)—Ralph F. Gates, GOP gubernatorial candidate, will open his campaign with a notification rally early in September reminiscent of the famous “Cornfield Rally” once given by Homer E. Capehart, Fourth Congressional District party leaders said today. No exact date nor place was selected, although they hinted that it might be held at the Whitely County 4-H club grounds. Features of the political carnival—besides plenty of free food would be the traditional notification ceremony for Gates, an address by him and introduction of all Republican state ticket members, they said. Chairman for the event will too Roy Jorg, Ligonier, Fourth District GOP chairman, with a committee composed of Foster Riddick, editor of the LaGrange County Standard; Homer Schumani, Whitely county Republican chairman, and Mary Ort, county vice chairman, it was announced.
