Dudley never liked his pet parrot. Claimed the • ailed him “Stinky”-and pipe tobacco. And the aid it served Will right he'd told him not to smoke ipo indoors.

To make her point, the MLsii'i dis Will's pipe mid throws it out the window. So Will grabs '' parrot and throws him out •. ! ' Ii- like unpleasantness ill in ' nines the parrot witli Mills coin cob in Ids mouth. Did whistling ••Home Sweet llnine," Mill claims.)

Well, Will and his wife both bust out laughing.. . and made peace over a friendly glass of beer, allowing how it's pretty silly getting mad at one another’s differences. From where I sit, that’s a mighty happy ending. If all of us would live and let live in a spirit of tolrrnnee — whether it's tolerance for a p rrot or n pipe —we'd he a whole lot happier and better oil.

years on all types of army combat vehicles the members of an Ordnance Motor Maintenance company now I stationed in England, all skilled mechanics, are hack at their old familiiu job of working on civilian automobiles. The unit is reconditioning all the civilian cars now being purchased from the public for use as staff vehicles by tiigh ranking American officers. Located in a iiuge warehouse recently vacated by the British, their shop is a strange eonibination of American and British machines and tools. Mobile motor maintenance equipment designed for use by the company in the field has been set up in the shop and is used for a large part of the work on civilian cars re cently impressed for army duty. Members of the company report little difficulty in shifting to work on BiiU.di built, motors since many of them are built on American de-

sign.

Working on civilian cars is a far cry from the early duties of the company when it was ironing out the •‘bugs” in tiie now famous "Duck.” Captain George W. Killstrom, 2741 Melrose Avenue. Chicago, lllirtois, commanding officer of the unit, says. 1 The company took over the ‘‘Duck’’ | in its infancy and gave it the initial ' try-outs in the surf at Fort Ord, I California. | Equipped with machines, tools and experience to service “any army ve- j hide on wheels" this Motor Maintenance company is enjoying its pre-1 invasion interlude of work on civilian vehicles for it is the type of work in | vhich most of the members first

learned about motors.
