Alexander reported today that auto registrations increased by .'i7,0.'i4 in 1943 and that nearly one-third of this figure was in Marion county. Motorists bought 50,502 passenger plates last year, hut the bureau of motor vehicles issued a total of 1,086,059 plates for all typt-s of vehicles he said.

An Easter party for the children of the Presbyterian church will be held Saturday from 2:30 to 4:00 p. m. Nathan Jr. Custis of the U. S. Mrs. Chailes Huffman has returned home from Mooresville where she spent a week visiting with her sister, Mrs. John Cosand, whose husband died last Sunday. A telegram was received Tuesday afternoon by Miss Mary Burks, announcing the birth of a daughter, Margaret Ann, to Dr. and Mrs. Rirhard V. Burks. Mrs. Opal Boyce, Mrs. Alberta Mil ler, Mr. and Mrs. Bert D. Wright and grand-daughter Patty Miller and Mr and Mrs. Scott Arnett visited Mr and Mrs. Tom Arnett and family at Frankfort. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. John Leaton, living north ot Fincastle that their son Melbert W. Leaton has received the Good Conduct Medal at Camp Sutton, North Carolina, where he is stationed. Regular Eaeter Services will be held at Smyrna Church In Cloverdal" Sunday, April 9. Elder Hurst of Plainfield will be the guest speaker. Meetings will be held at 10:30 Sueday morning and 2:00 Sunday atternoon.
