By 4-H Members Last year. 55,000 Indiana 4-H club members produced and preserved enough food to supply 35.000 men in uniform. This statement was made today by Eric Holm of the state 4-H ■ club office at Purdue University. This year, every effort will be made to produce enough food to take care Of the needs of 50.000 servicemen. During National 4-H Mobilization Week March 4 to 12, Indiana boys and girls 10 to 20 years of age will be given an opportunity to re-enroll in th> following clubs: garden, corn, ' ?ig, poultry, soybeans- canning, food Reparation and food preservation.

shells. Those high in magnesium,. known as dolomitic limestones,; should be avoided. A good limestone j for poultry is one containing less | than five per cent magnesium car- j bonate and more than 90 per cent calcium carbonate. Limestones higher than five per cent m magnesium may throw hens off their feed and have a laxative effect. Hi ns turned outside, this spring, will get some calcium from green, succulent pasture, it it is made available.

In tests on land that slopes eight feet in every 100, it was possible to contour plow 1 10 more land in a given length of time and that acre for acre contour plowing used 1 10 less fuel as compared to working up-and-down the hill. With contour farming you can have a good farm longer. It will enable farmers to go a long way toward maintaining their most valuable asset the top soil, while at the same time, meeting the demand for Increased production. Two demonstrations will be held in the county Thursday, March 9, one at the Roy Hill farm in Floyd township at 10:00 a. m„ and one at the Many McCabe farm on state road 36 at the Parke county line at 1:00 p, m. on the same day.
