A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is still, A place is vacant in our home Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom nas recalled, The loan which he has given, Although his body slumbers here, His soul is safe in Heaven. Charles Winfield Davis was bo-n Sept. 18. 1875, departed this life Feb. 1. 1944. He was the son of Moses Creed Davis and Mary .lane Williams Davis. He was one of a family of four brothers and three half brothers and a half sister. At the age of 19 he united with the Somerset Christian church which he served faithfully his entire life. On Oct. 6, 1897 he was united in marriage to Daisy O. Forrand. To this union were bom four children, Glenwood Davis, Danville, Ind.. Winnie Opal Cox of Madison township. Harold Earl Davis, Greencastle and Howard Wesley Davis of Indianapolis. He was truly a faithful husband and father. He was spoken well of, by all who knew him. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of JHorton. He spent his entire life in Putnam county except 6 years of hi^ married life, 1 year in northern Indiana and 5 years in Missouri. He is survived by his wife and four children and six grandchildren, and two brother*, Mose DaVis of Balnbridge and Jeff Davis of Lodge Grass. Mont. God giveth, God loveth, and God taketh away.
