Corporal Scott brags that he knows several hundred soldiers by heir first name—all the men in bis ietanhmeat. “Strange,” muttered Scott to himjelf, “That’s the only man in the ?ost I ever fuileij to recognize.” That evening after chow, when Jcott went to his mom to turn in or the day, there was the same solder, sleeping in the upper bunk of Jcott’s bed. “That soldier Scott had failed to •ecognlze war his new roommate!” His address is Corporal Lloyd 3cott, Hdq. and Hdq. Mrs. F. G. Lewis, Greencastle. R. 2 has received a letter written toy Sgt. J. F. Parker, concerning their son. Corp. Herbert L. Lewis. Srpt. 1, 1943. Dear Mrs. Lewis: I have just arrived from Australia and your son asked me to drop you a line and tell you just how he is. We were in the same company at Camp Roberts and I can truthfully say Lewis has gained lots of weight since then and looks much better. We all thought an awful lot ofl your son and were all proud of him in combat for he prove*) he was every inch a map. He v as very lucky for he came through tne whole campaign without getting even a scratch. When ) left him he was in charge of our transportation, a very important job in a company. _ I hope before long he will be sent home. It seems no one knows when our outfit will be. but I hope it i?
soon.
In closing I know you are proud of your son and I can assure you you have every reason to be and that he is in good health. If there is anything further you’d like to know I’M be glad to write
you.
Sincerely yours, Jack Parker.
