Sayers, compiled some very interesting staUstics in regard to Insurance sales in this organization. The entire company, strength over 200, carries the astounding total of {1,812.500.00 worth of national life insurance. This amount was reached only through the untiring efforts of Lt. Sayers, who himself sold $750^000 00 worth of insurance. This averages as 73 per cent increase over the amount held before the “drive” or ap average increase of $3,752.32 per man. That is what we call “nice goingj” Lt. Sayers. You can “highpressure” for us any time.”

ICKES SAYS MINE OWNERS J MUST STAND ANY LOSSES WASHINGTON, Aug. 4—Interior Secretary Ickes today invited the manager of each coal mine taken iver by the government to suggest when the property should be restored to private control, but did not commit himself to comply with the suggestions. The invitation was held out as the government’s mine boss set forth the conditions which he would require for restoration of the pits—if and when he decided the time has come to restore them. The conditions were drawn to proect the government against claims .'or damages which may result from ts seizure a,nd operation of the prorerties. The mines were taken over May 1 at the outbreak by John L. .jewis' united mine workers. Ickes, simultaneously advised the nanagers that Uie government has no intention of underwriting financial ieficits of anfnUnftig operation. The Joal Mines acmiinistration is not going to play Santa Claus to the mining industry.” 1
