HOLE IN DUSSELDORF—Probably an 8,000-ton "town-buster" bomb was used by the RAF to blast this hole in the main railway station at Dusseldorf, Germany, night of Sept. 10. Hole is 100 yards in diameter and neighboring buildings are rootless. Fire caused additional damage.
NAMED FOR WINNIE—Here’s one of Britain's new infantry tanks, named "Churchill," for Britain's Prime Minister. It is so heavily armored it can be used as a pill-box. It has 6-pounder guns and can move along at a startling speed. Mr. Churchill rode in one of them recently.
