William G. Whitted, a life long resident of this vicinity departed this life at dawn Sunday, Jan. 18, 1942, at the Putnam County hospital following an illness of one week. Mr. Whitted was the son of Sylvester and Jane Whitted, was born April 26. 1865 on a farm near Bainbridge, Ind. The parents’ family of Tennessee came to this vicinity to establish their future home. He was the fourth member of a family of six children. Dec. 27. 1887 he married Mamie Lee Grider. To this union two children, a daughter and a son, were born which brought to them much happiness and comfort. Mr. Whitted was a very successful farmer residing on the James B. Nelson farm a period of forty years where he and his companion made a wide circle of friends. On March 29th 1940 his companion departed this life. After the breaking up of the home he made his home with his brother, Finis Whitted. of Greencastle. One of the greatest inspirations of his life was the Masonic Order being a member for more than fifty years. He was also a member of the Eastern Slat both at Morton, Ind. Besides the two children, Mrs. Katnryn W. Carver of Alexandria. Ind , and Lee Owen Whitted of Rockville, Ind., he is survived by three grandchildren. Martha Jane and John Carver. Marjory Petrovitch, Grand Rapids, Michigan: one great grandchild, Jackie Petrovitch; two sisters, Mrs. Coniia Bettis and Mrs. Addia Frank of Girard III.; one brother. Finis Whitted of Greencastle, Ind. The parents one sister. Mrs. Lucy Phillips and one brother, John Whitted, preceded him in death. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many friends and neighbors. He prayeth best who boreth best All things both great and small. For the dear God. who boreth us, He made and boreth all.

IN MEMORY In memory of Uriel Varvel. who departed this life. January 24. 1936. His Moiling face and pleasant ways Are a pleasure to recall; He had a kindly word for each And was beloved by all.

What would we give to clasp his hand; His smiling face to see; To near his voice and see his smile. That meant so much to us.

Some day we know not when; We will clasp his hand, In a better land Ami never will part again.

Surrounded by fiiends we are lonesome, In the midst of our joys we are blue; With a smile on our face, we’ve a heartache, Longing husband and father for you
