Tiger Cubs Win Regular Horse Race From Shortridge Blue Devils, 32-27 Thundering down the home stretch, the Greencastle Tigei Tubs flashed under the wire Friday evening in the local gymlasium, to win from the Shortridge Blue Devils, 32 to 27, in a egular horse race basketball game. The Cubs left the barrier and were out in front by five lengths j it the quarter post, 13-8. They dropped back two lengths at he half-way mark—on the back stretch—22-20. At the three juarter post, the Blue Devils wer? going strong, leading by four lengths—26-22. Rounding the turn and coming into thr traightaway, the Cubs called on their reserve power and pas r ed the Shortridge quintet, roaring past the finish line, going nway by five lengths, and winning 32 to 27.

From the judges’ stand it appeared s though both entries were jeekeyI ing for position as they left the bar- ! rier. A field gold by Hunt, Shortridge I center, put the visitors ahead by a j nose, but the Cubs drew up even on

and York.

Melsan hit for the Blue Devils and Goodman followed suit, and it was 44 Greencastle continued strong to hold a 5-point edge at the quarter, 13

to 8.

The second quarter sprint was all in Shortage's favor, the Indianapolis boys outscoring the locals. 14 to 7, and leading 22 to 20 at the rest period. In the third quarter point collecting was almost nil. Grimes' lone bucket, and a single basket and two foul throws were all that were collected by the Capital City net tossers. The score board read, Greeniastle 22: Shortridge 26. During the final eiglrt minutes of ompetitii i, however , the Tiger Cubs clamped down an almost air-tight de tense, holding the Blue Devils to a ingle point, a successful attempt rom the charity stripe by CasselInran. Meanwhile, York connected for ,: one-handed under-tho-hoop shot that was a beauty and then made good on a foul toss and the local? trailed two points. Houck, who h:'d been injected into thr Purple and Gray lineup, brought the excite . crowd to its feet when he registered from out beyond the foul circle to knot the race at 27-27. Conrad made good on one of twr free throws and Greencastle forged ahead. 28 to 27. York slipped through the Shortridge defense and went under for his fifth field goal of the battle and it was 30 to 27. Car-
