(By Jim Zeis) Butler came from behind Saturday afternoon at Blackstock stadium to defeat De. auw, 20 to 6. The defeat came as a great d ^appointment to Tiger football fans, but the Bulldogs from Indianapolis played a hard game and deserved to win.

Mike Mclinki scored fne only touchdown for the Old Gold in the early mi.iuies of the opening quarter on a 15-yard jaunt around his awn left end following a Butler fumble which was recovered by Ray Moehring, DePauw tackle. Martin Bock was sent in to kick for the extra point but his boot was ro good.

Butler s heavier line and backfield kept hammering away at the Methodists and finally carried the pigskin over into pay dirt late in the second quarter, the half ending, 7-6, in favor of the visitors.

THERE GOES A TIRE! ... but why junk the car?

Any car can have a blowout in a tire. But you wouldn’t junk the car. You’d just fix the tire—or replace it. That’s very much like a situation that exists in the retailing of beer. Beer retailing has its “flat tires,” too—retailers who disobey the law or who permit unsavory conditions. To protect your right to drink good beer, we of the beer industry want to eliminate the few “flat tire” retailers. Here’s another reason: Right here in Indiana, beer has provided employment

for 14,831 persons, supports an annual payroll of $14,054,194 and paid $1,376,132.84 in state taxes last year. The state, too, has an important stake in the beer industry’s purchases—for material, equipment and services—from more than 100 other industries. Those benefits are worth preserving. You can help us preserve them by patronizing only the reputable and legal places where beer is sold and by reporting any law violations you may observe to the duly constituted authorities.
