FORMER RESIDENT DIED IN KANSAS CITY, MO. Mr. and Mrs. John B. Williams, north of Greencastle received a telegram thW morning of the death of Mr Williams’ aunt, Mrs. lx>ra Byrd of Kansas City, Mo., at the home of her daughter Mrs. Nolle Otto, in that city. Mrs. Byrd was the widow of th late Samuel Byrd of Raccoon and
has many nieces and nephews in this county. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning in Kansas City, with burial in Ottawa, Kansas.

Sunday, a special program observing Mothers Day will be given by the Sunday school, beginning at 9:30. A feature of the program, as announced by A. L. Evena, will tie a roll call of the men and boya, to which the responses will be quotations concerning mother. The committee met yesterday at the Propylaeum, Indianapolis, and

Harvey Gorham, Greencastle young man who was reported by state police to have deserted from the army at Fort Knox, Ky., and later to have stolen an automobile at Vandalia. 111., which he wrecked on state road 36 near Rockville, was taken by state officers to Rockville and put in jail there, yesterday. He was not particularly wanted by the army police, it was learned. He is to he charged in the Parke county Circuit court, it Js understood, with ve-
