These unpaid claims proximately $7,000 and are
seme 75 persons, most of them Putnam county men who worked on the county loads in the latter part of last year, claims for their work being filed last December for payment in January. Included in the list is a claim for approximately $3,500 due Contractor Rigdcn of Danville for applying tarvia to loads in the 1940 WPA program for the
county.
These claims were not allowed at the January meeting because tne 1940 road fund was exhausted, it was stated by members of the board of commissioners and by the county attorney.

Arthur Hancock, sent to the penal farm from Pike county in August. 1940, was before Judge Marshall D. Abrams in the Putnam Circuit court this forenoon, charged with being an escape from the farm. He received a sentence of one to five years. The Rev. H. Cecil Fellers, pastor of the First Christian church of this city, was the speaker for the regular meeting of the Belle Union Parent Teachers Association held Monday evening at the school building. Rev. Fellers spoke on the subject “Learn To Relax.” Mrs. Nina Losson, 619 east Seminary street, reports the wind as being unusually strong last night. She says that a storm window, on the east side of her house which was securely hinged at the top and hooked at th e bottom, blew down and was found in the drive-way this morning.

The Putnam County Credit Association held its regular meeting Monday evening, at which Um e final plans for the new 1941 rating book were made and it will be complied during the next thirty days.
