The devotions were read by Mrs. Alma Wright. The Lord’s i Mayer was repeated in unison. Fourteen members answered roll call
Opening the recital was Chopin's '"Sonata in B flat Minor.” Th# first movement, the grave-doppio movimento, gave opportunity for a display of playing power. The second, the scherzo, was more melodic, and an ffective contrast to the first movement. The third movement, the familiar funeral march' was played with real power and in a style which brought out in full measure the lovely contrast between the dark and light passages in this movement.
The sonata closed with
rendition of the closing presto move-
ment.

The "Varied Theme, Fugue and Chanson, Op. 85 1 followed and closed the first half of the program. The selections which comprised the remainder of the program were in a lighter vein and were rendered in an easy and impressive manner. First were the two Brahms "Capriccios,” Op. 76. Nos. 1 and 2; following them a Brahams “Intermezzo,"
Op. 116, No. 4.
The evening was dosed with the playing of three Debussy numbers in which Mr. Kolling seems to excel. The first. “Puck's Dance,” was played excellently not only as far as handling the speed nnd difficulty of the piece were concerned but with an understanding which resulted in complete justice being done to this lelightful piece of program music. "The Girl With The Flaxen Hair” and "Toccata" closed the program. Mr. Kolling played one encore.
