Mooresville, Belle Union, Cloverdale Win Opening Games In Tournament Opening night winners in the preliminary tournament of the annual Wabash Valley basketball meet being held in the Greencastle high school gym were Mooresville. Belle Union and Cloverdale. The teams they defeated, in order, were Bainbridgc, ReelsviHe and Quincy. By virtue of their victories Thursday evening, Mooresville and Belle Union will tangle at 7 o'clock tonight and Cloverdale and Fillmore will exchange shots at 8 p. m. The two winners will clash Saturday night at H o'clock to determine the team to represent this tourney center in the final round at Terre Haute next weekend which will crown .1 1i)41 Valley champion. Mooresville fought their way into he semi-finals by quelling a late rally by the Pointers from Bainiridge which fell short by a scant ! points. Tingle scored th< opening points of the game on a tip-off play which gave the Mooresville lads .1 lead which they never once surrenlered during the entire fray. They led 0-2 at the end of the 1st period holding the Pointers to 2 free throws. It was 16-15 at the half-way mark and 28-22 at the 3rd quarter period. Ader was the high-scorer of the evening with 13 points while Wilson contributed a total of II points am Beasley 9 to help the MooresvUl.

Russellville, playing in the Wshash Valley tourney at Marshall, eliminated Bridgeton. 32 to 25 Thursday night. The Bees led all the way. holding a 12 to ft edge at the half. However, the Putnam county boys won on free throws as each team connected for nine fiel I goals, tail Russellville made good on 14 free tosses while B idgeton connected seven times from the charity stripe.
