SADDLE CLUB HOSTESSES, HOSTS ASK ALL TO RANCH

An invitation has been extended to the public by the hosts and hostesses to the Putnam County Saddle Club this Sunday. The hosts and hostesses, Mr. and Mrs. Goddes Priest and Mr. and Mrs. Irving Schmeltekopf, in announcing this invitation said, ‘‘We would like everyone who wants to to attend and participate in the activities at the Ramp Creek Ranch, Sunday, October 20th, in the early afternoon.” Both young and old will enjoy the contests, group singing and beautiful scenery as the ranch is located in the hills north of highway 36 and just northwest of Bainbridge. REFRESHMENT CENTER MOVED Glover's today announced the moving of their location, for the winter months, of their refreshment center to 204 South College avenue, ac oss from the Sigma Nu House. Mr Glover, in making this announcement, stated that the former location will be reopened during the summer months. The new refreshment center opens today and has been remodeled and repainted. New equipment has been added and the entire place finished in green and white. In keeping with the cold weather, Mr. and Mrs. Glover will sell hot drinks and sandwiches along with their other line of refreshments. Additional locals Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wood are spending the week end at Bloomington and attended the Indiana-Iows foot hall game today. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Stelllngs, Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Tucker, Dr. and Mrs. V. Earle Wiseman, Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Krider, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Butler and W H. Moseley attended the In-diana-Iowa football game at Bloomington today. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Walter returned to their home in Bainbridge Friday evening from Garrett where they were called by the death of Mr. Walter's father. They were accompanied home by Mr. Walter’s mc‘ her and his sister.

Friendly Circle Met With Mrs. Pitts Mrs .William Pitts and Mi's. Joe Allen were hostesses Friday evening to the Friendly Circle. A pitchin supper was served at the home of Mrs. William Pitts and the husbands were the guests. Contests were held during the evening and prizes wore won by Mrs. Carl Neumann, Mrs. Marjorie Morgan, Mrs. James Grimes and Mis. Donald Gorham. Consolation prize was won by Mrs. Maurice Tharp. PLAN FALL FESTIVAL Celebrating Hallowe'en with a Fall Festival will be the event of the season on the eve of October 23 at the Bainbridge High School gymnasium. All organizations of the :chool will take part. Prizes for best masked adults and students will be awarded. Fish ponds, side shows, c azy house, moving pictures and games of all kinds will provide the amusement. Music will be furnished by a swing and German Band.

Bartlett will be the speaker at Otterbern Sunday morning at the Methodist church. In the afternoon he will speak at the Methodist Ministers County Association. Mr. and Mrs. Wit Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Reiaing motored to the southern part of the state Wednesday. While in Corydon, they visited the first state capitol of Indiana. On the prog am at the retreat for Methodist ministers at Crawfordsville, Thursday, at which the theme of the day was "Problems Peculiar to the Ministry.” Dr. Hildebrand of DePauw University spoke on the topic, “On Being Gor-Cen-tere 1." Mrs. Louella Lee Widdop, 69 years old. whose death at Ladoga occurred Friday morning, was the grandmother of Mrs. Nellie Linley of Cloverdale. F’uneral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Ladoga Presbyterian church. At 3:30 o'clock this afternoon at Indianapolis, Miss Ann Stork, becomes the bride of William A. Boswell, former De<Pauw student. The rites will be pronounced in the Irvington Methodist church, by Dr. Ezra L. Hutchens. Mr. Boswell is a member of Phi Gamma Delta. The bride attended Butler University. A Republican rally was held Thursday night at Crawfordsville in the City Hall. The speakers were Noble Johnson and Cornelius Richardson. Dr. Vernon Van Dyke of the DePauw University Political Science Department will speak at the October meeting of the American Association of University Women which will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 p. m. at the Kappa Kappa

"Liberalism and Its Critics" is the topic which Dr. Van Dyke will discuss. Dr. Van Dyke was the initial speaker on the program series of the Greencastle branch two years ago and was enthusiastically received and has been asked to appear at this October meeting because of mem-

bers’ requests.

Programs for the year’s activities and the roster of members for 194041 have been prepared under the direction of Mrs. Jennie DeLong, program chairman, and will be distributed to members. One hundred and four women are included on the roll of members of the Greencastle branch for the coming year. Bainbridge Study Club Met With Mrs. HiMLs The Bainbridge Study Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Roscoe Hillis .The president, Mrs. Albert Batch, presided. Response to roll call was “A Much Needed Social Reform.’ Selections of poetry were presented by Mrs. James Lewman and Mrs. Hillis gave the English lesson. A new member, Mrs. Fred Lewman was welcomed into the club and there was one guest, Miss Marjorie Lewman. Mrs. Bruce Lane will be hostess to the club in November.
