The effort being made now to secure the construction of a new drainage ditch in former Mill Creek township, extend.ng a little way ,nto Mo: gan county, gives interest to the report of Nathan E Hubbard, commissioner in charge of construction of an earlier drainage ditch in the same territory, in part. Hubbard was appointed to that task at th'April term in 1884 of the Putnam Circuit court, to carry on the construction of a ditch “along the lines of Mill Creek and Eel river in Putnam and Morgan counties." Commissioner Hubbard in his report assessed many properties, tha r are listed for assessment in connection with the present proposed Tom Dorset ditch in the former Mill Creek township, now a part of Jefferson township.

LONDON, July 6 (UP)- Britain fa lie I 250.000 more men into th'army today and took new, drastic steps to defend the coast, keep the highways open for troops and conserve food in preparation for a German invasion. The naval action, and intensified air raids on Germany gave evidence that the British were moving to the Oflensive while strengthening the home defense. An air ministry communique late yesterday said that during Thursday night and yesterday the British had bombed the German naval bases of Wilhelmshaven and Kiel Emden, aircraft factories at Wensendorf and Bremen, and Ger-man-occupied airports at Amsterdam and Brussels. Returning fliers said they had blasted the naval docks at Kiel and Wilhelmshaven for an hour; that they had blown up docks and hit the Foekewulf aircraft factory at Bremen and exploded huge oil tanks at Hamburg.

I-ONDON, July 6. (UP) France s hostility over the Oran naval battle left Britain fared today with the jobs of hunting down French warships at sea, blocka ting the French roast and solving serious problems wherever the British and French empires meet. Already, there was trouble or fear of It at Hcng Kong, Palestine. Alexandria. Gibraltar and wherever else the former British and French allies had contacting interests. (Reports reaching Madrid from AIgerioas. Spain, said that Gibraltar, raided several times, reportedly without damage yesterday, had had another air raid alarm at 6 o'cloek yesterday evening and that six destroyer* had put out from Gibraltar Both German and Spanish sources reported that French planes conducted the raid on Gibraltar. The Tangier news-

paper Espar.a said coastal batteries from the French Moroccan fort at Casablanca had fired on two British destroyers Wednesday evening, about •he time of the battle at Oran and :hat the destroyers had escaped in a -moke screen. The Italian newsoaper I-avoro Fascista said in a Madrid dispatch that Frr-nch and British warships were fighting near Oran again yesterday morning: that three iamage 1 British destroyers had reached Gibraltar a.nd that other warships had landed British wounded at Gibraltar.)
