approximately 6 inches. After the bulbs have been placed in the ground make sure the soil is packed firmly around the bulbs. Due to a lack of fall rains it is suggested that these bulbs be watered several times before winter sets in. Also before the heavy winter weather straw should be placed on these bulbs. If straw is not available use leaves but make sure they have small areas such as willow or elm and not maples. Leaves with a large area mat and will create heat, starting the bulb to act. Remember to act now and get the bulbs in as there will be only a few more weeks ere it will be too late and when your neighbors have spring flowers you will bemoan your tardiness.

Q. The mortgage on my house , was refinanced through a Government agency. I am behind in my interest payments, but if I could make improvements on a rental property I own, I think the increased income from that would help me , make the interest payments on my home. Could I obtain an FHA-insur-ed loan for those improvements? | A. You could not as long as you
are behind in such interest payments as you have mentioned. A loan cannot be made to a borrower who is delinquent at the time the loan is to be made, as to either principal or interest, with respect to an obligation owing to or insured by any department or agency of the Federal Government.

Q. Should sloping lots be avoided when selecting a house site? A. Nob necessarily. Sloping lots often lend themselves to attractive variations from conventional room arrangements by the use of varying ! floor levels adapted to the natural slope of the ground, but steep slops tend to increase the cost of the house due to the extra foundations, grading, retaining walls, and other possible items that may be required. I Q. We are nuinting a new home. Eventually we desire to landscape the property according to a definite plan. What trees and shrubs should we plant first for best effect and consideration of economy? A. It would be advisable to plant the permanent'shade trees; mass planting to create privacy or pleasant outlook from within the grounds; and shrubs and small trees which are desired to complement the architectural design of the house.

Small windows are sometimes made to appeap considerably larger when Venetian blinds are skillfully placed over wall as well as window to acheive the size desired. In other cases decorators say, they may be employed to “join" several small window’s into a single unit by extending the Venetian blind over the entile group. The height of a room may he made to seem greater with Venetian blinds which reach from the ceiling to the floor. Another important funtion they ably perform is that of eliminating unsightly views.
