WEALTHY SPECIALIST AND SON ARE JAILED BENTON, 111., Sept. 26 (UP)—Dr. George \V. Gore, 65, wealthy surgical specialist, and his son were held in adjoining cells today, the son for the slaying of his step-mother last July, the father because he killed his son's attorney yesterday after an argument over the son’s defense. The attorney was Carl Choisser, 46. publisher of the Benton Evening News and a cousin of young Gore. He and Charles F. Settlemoir, a locksmith, were walking through an alley to Choisser’s newspaper plant when, witnesses said, Dr. Gore came up behind them and fired five shots. Three bullets pierced Choisser'o abdomen. He was taken to Benton hospital where surgeons performed an operation. He died last night.

Again the grim reaper has visited our midst and taken from us a loving husband and father, James Wesley Estep, on Sept. 17, 1939. He was born August 14, 1864 m Owen county, Indiana, the son of Jessie and Louisa Estep. H« spent his childhood days near Fillmore, Indiana, He was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Fisher on July 5, 1891. To this union were bom ten children, namely, Roy, Charlotte, Raymond, Ross, Alva, Olive, Ida, Ethel, Clifford and Madonna of which three, Roy Ida and Ethel have preceded him in death. He also leaves two brothers, five sisters and a hos; of relatives and friends.
