For the past two or three weeks we have been travelling here and there—looking around and listening in. Out of many impressions there are two or three we should like to
pass on.
First, we never cease to wonder at the resources and opportunities I which we. in this country of ours, possess. How. we ask as the endless milec of rich fields and growing grain unroll before our eyes, can there be serious want, the unemployed. the needy, the uncared for? We know, of course, that these are all seriously and tragically with us. In the nature of things does it seem reasonable and necessary that it should be so? Have we not the intelligenc the wisdom, the honesty, the idealism, to make it otherwise?
Surely so.
Secondly, the more we see of the large and congested city centers, the happier we are to get back to the small nome town. We confess that the city has for us little attraction either for the purpose of vacation or of residence This is a purely personal reaction of course. But let is be grateful for the freedom, the friendships the very familiarities of
the small town.
Thirdly, on the train and in every sort of public place, we found people freely and fiankly expressing their opinions or. things political and

500 yards of the explosion. No damage to adjoining property was reported. The nearest house, owned by Walter Fisher, Central High School football coach, is about 100 j yards away. The home, of brick construction, was nea r ly ready for occupancy. Bricks were blown from the front of the building and the interior was nearly destroyed. Neither Umbarger nor Hook could be reached for a statement, and police for a rime were unable to determine definitely what caused the explosion. -Later a police department spokesman said “There is no question but what the building was dynamited.” RIOT BKE\K* OUT IN COAL MTNES

\\ ednesday morning.
The other morning we overheard the following as we passed a place of business: ••Do you think you will get the windows cleaned before the snow begins to fly?" This addressed to the man hired to wash the windows. The question was put with a tolerant smile on the part of the questioner, and met with a sheepish smile on the part of the person questioned. We could not help but think that a considerable part of the whole human relations problem was wrapped up in the above bit of repartee.
