Southern Fried Chicken Hav> your market man dress A younp ctrcken weighing from to ‘2 to 2’s pounds. Cut for frying. Wash thoroughly and cover with sweat milk for several hours. Then, sift a cup of flour, add to it salt and pepper. Roll pieces of chick?n in prepared flour. In a frying pan with 4 tablespoons of shortening <made hot> lay pieces of chicken. Cover with top and let cook slowly until gold n brown. Turn and brown on other side. When all is golden brown and crisp on all sides, soft and well don; to the bone, remove to hot platter and serve with rice and cream gravy.

Egg Bread 2 cups buttermilk. 2'-. cups meal. - t teaspoon soda. 3 teaspoons KC Baking Powder. 1 teaspoon salt. 1 egg. 2 tablespoons shortening. After thoroughly mixing, pour !• piping hot muffin tins with about teaspoon hot fat. Cook in hot ovn Serve at once.

Salt and cayenne pepper to taste Put butter in soup kettle, wher hot add chicken 'cut for frying*, ham cut in cubes. Cover closely and let cook 10 to 15 minutes then add chopped onicn. parsley, thyme and tomatoes, Stirling often to keep iron scorching. Then add Okra. Cover alt with hot water (3 quarts) cook IK hours. Serve hot with large spoon rice to ea' h bowl of gumbo.
Pound flake 1 pound of butter. 2 cups sugar. 4 cups flour. 10 eggs. Dash of mace. 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cream butter until like whipped cream. Gradually add sugar then cream md beat until very fluffy. Now add 1 whole egg at the Urn?, beating after each egg Is added with flour. Last the flavoring. Pour into steam pan, bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or more.
