Prepare Trial On Anti-Trust Charges
COURT DENIED PLEA THAT INDICTMENTS FAILED TO CONSTITUTE PUBLIC OFFENSE
SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 17.— 'UP' The federal government prepared today for the trial of General Motors Corporation and affiliated auto finance companies, together with theii officials, on anti-trust charges. Federal Judge Thomas VV. Slick ruling yesterday against a remurrer by which CMC sought to quash the anti-trust indictments, ordered the case to trial. No date was set. The court denied the General Motors plea that automobile financing operations cited in the indictments failed to constitute a public offense. Similar anti-trust, indictments against the Chrysler Corporation and the Ford Motor company were withdrawn several months ago after officials of the two companies and their finance firms signed consent decrees pledging strict observance of trust regulations.
