WASHINGTON. Sept. 28 John D Riggers, ^administrator of the unemployment census has announce' chat registration blanks wdll be dis tributed to the nation's 31000.00" families on Nov. 16 and 17. The blanks will be passed out b" postmen. Persons out of work oi on part-time jobs will be asked to fill them out and mail them to Washington by midnight, Nov. 20. The Census Bureau then will tab ulate the data, Biggers said. After a conference at the White House. Biggers said that during the six weeks following Nov. 20 house to-house unemployment count will he conducted in typical communitie 1 -' throughout the nation. "The result of these enumcrativ checks will be compared with the registrations from the same area? to determine the average percentage of variation," he said. The house-to-house y liecks will provide information on some items omitted from voluntary reg istration cards. Further checks on the accuracy o r the voluntary registration will tr made by the Works Progress AT minstration. the United States Em ployment Service and other agen cies. Biggers asserted. The conference brought pledges of co-operation from industry, labor and agriculture, he said. One of the conferees, John L. Lewis, chairman of the Committe? for Industrial Organization, said he was confident “a very practical program" will be carried out. From a representative of the rival labor camp—Boris Shiskin, a direr tor of the American Federation cf Labor—came a statement that the A. F. of L. would co-operate fully. Shiskin reported latest A F. of L. estimates placed the nation's unemployment at 8.000.000.
