Mr. and Mrs J. E. Courtney left this morning for a motor trip. They will visit Miss Dorothy Locke and family in Elkhart ad their son. LaVerne Courtney and family at Lansing, Mich. A celebration was held at Carbon Tuesday night in honor of the birthday of several residents of Brazil and of Carbon, and among the honor guests were Mr. and Mrs. James Cherry, of Brazil, formerly of Greencastle, both of whose birthdays occurred on that date. Putnam county farmers who are holding public sales this month are enjoying unusually high prices for all kinds of livestock. Wednesday, Alton Hurst had a very successful sale. Young cows sold for more than $100 and gilts with their first litter of pigs sold upward to $50.00. Young gilts weighing around 100 pounds went close to $20. Among the guests at the recentlyheld twelfth reunion of the descendents of Janies Anderson, held at the old homestead in Clay county, were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert McCullough and family, Oral, Agnes and Seibert, of near Reelsville; Mrs. Emma McCullough. Mr and Mrs. Gilbert Cox and son Darrell, of Greencastle, and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. McCullough of Morton. There will be the first reunion of the former teachers and pupils of thc‘‘White School” located west of Ladoga ami east of New Market in Scott township in Montgomery county on Sunday August 15th. We wou! 1 like to have any one who has had at any time any connection with that school to attend. Several out of state pupils are returning for this occasion.

BALTIMORE, Md„ Aug. 12 — (UP)—G-men and police of two states today conducted an Intensive search for three members of the notorious Brady gang who are believed to have used Baltimore as a base for forays into the middlewest. A dozen crack detectives were assigned to the widespread hunt after police uncovered an arsenal of machine guns, hand grenades, ammunition and other paraphemalio which thqj>' said the three had hidden here. CRAVENS KITES HELD BLOOMINGTON. Ind„ Aug. 12— 'UP>—Last rites for John W. Cravens, 72 year old, veteran secretary and registrar of Indiana university, were held today at the University Union Building. Dr. William Lowe Bryan, president emeritus of the university, and the Rev. T. R. White, former pastor of the Bloomington First Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetary. Mr. Cravens died Tuesday night.
