public safety." Copiees of the report form may be obtained at all city police departments. sheriffs’ offices and state police posts in Indiana. If the driver is i not physically able to make the reI [>ort. another occupant of the car must provide the information. Failure to fully describe the accident is the most common mistake noted in 'he incoming reports Many motorists fall to clearly describe the exact location of the accident, which is essential to a comprehensive study of accident prevention. Some drivers fail to give any information about the other car involved in the accident. Assistance in filling out the forms will be given by police officials. The

report is a privileged cummunication and cannot be used as evidence in a trial or litigation. No one will be held for libel, or slander or damages for anything he may report, unless actual malice and bad faith can be proven. Mr. Stiver said approximately 1200 reports should be received each month to equal the volume of police accident reports. Since the police are not always called, reports should exceed 1200. Purpose o fthc law is to obtain complete facts about accidents as a basis for a scientific program of traffic improvement. Mr. Stiver said Marion County motorists had been particularly lax in sending in accident report forms

July 7 Many motorists are failing to observe the new accident reporting law which went into effect June 7. Don F. Stiver state safety director, said today. Mr. Stiver warned that failure to file a report of an accident with the State Safety Department is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not to exceed $100 He said) he believed that many motorists erroneously thought that the police reports of an accident met thq requirements of the law. Last week only 200 reports had been received by the S afety Department from motor vehicle operators The new law provides that "the driver of every motor vehicle which is involved in any accident resulting in injury or death of any person. or total property damage to an extent of $25 or more shall within 2'l hours after such accident occurs, forward a written report of such accident to the department of

THAI S what we mean run POWER

JSieAtM-pim'id Think of an electric refrigerator that uses no current at all more than 80' of the time! That builds up enough cold in just a few minutes to last almost an hour! Here’s real full-powered refrigeration . . . and operating economy, too. It’s the new Kitchenproved Westinghouse — Kitchen-proved the world over. In tests early this year, running time of the mechanism averaged only 13% — much less than two hours out of twelve. Current consumption also was remarkably low- -averaging only

2 3 kwh. per day, only 20 kilowatt hours per month.

But.. .come in and see the new Kitchen proved Westinghouse!
