Mrs. Effie Allee of this city and her granddaughter, Miss Helen Allee of Mt. Heridian, went to Martinsville today for a visit with Mrs. Ora Dorsett. Mrs. Claude M. McClure was elected Conference President of the Ministers Wives’ Association at Battle Ground last week. The meeting was held in connection with the Northwest Indiana Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Dr. Edward R. Bartlett of this city will preach at the Robert Parks Methodist church in Indianapolis Sunday morning and evening in the absence of the regular minister, the Rev. Alexander, who is ill. This will make the fourth Sunday Dr. Bartlett has filled Rev. Alexander’s place.

PREDICT BUMPER WHEAT CROP IN DOWNSTATE ZONE LINTON, Ind., June 24.—(UP)— Farmers of Greene and other southern counties who have started cutting wheat in preparation for threshing, today predicted the largest crop in several years. In many cases farmers reported wheat reaching a height of three and a half to four feet with the husk well filled.

REPORT TWO COLLISIONS Two minor automobile collisions occurred at noon Friday in downtown Greencastle. On Washington, between Vine and Indiana, a car driven by Donald Dicks ran into the rear of a new car owned by Walter Campbell, and caused damage to the front car. Defective breaks were given as the cause, by the police department. On the corner of Vine and Columbia streets, a car driven by Mrs. Chas. Hale of west Walnut street, and one driven by F. E. R. Orville Yeager of Alentone, Ind. As the guests gathered in th*. ?hurch, they were shown to their places by Rev. D. Russel Hetsler of Greencastle and Rev. Austin Elmore rf Crawfordsville. Preceding the ceremony. Miss Helen Nimtz, of South Bend, a classmate of the bride at DePauw university, played a program of nuptial music including "O Thou Sublime Sweet Evening Star” and ■’Liebesstraum” and Miss Alberta Bechtel sang “I Love You Truly,’’ ‘‘Calm as the Night” and “Beloved It is Mom.” The young couple plighted then troth to the reading of the single ring ceremony by Rev. B. E. Antrobus, father of the bride, in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. As Miss Nimtz struck the first chords of the bridal chorus from Lohengrin, the bridal party entered the church. Dirks left Friday morning for Detroit, Michigan, to attend the wedding of his son, Robert, and Miss Phyllis Northrop who is the daughter of Dr. W. F. Northrop, of Detroit. Mr. Dirks is connected with the accounting department of the General Electric company, at Schenectady, N. Y., and he and his bride will be at home in that city after July 1. Dean Dirks also will attend the sessions of the National Educational Association at Detroit, which open Sunday. After that, he will go to Lako Winona for a month in his cottage. The dean also will attend the coming meeting of the State Board of Education, which has six members, he having been appointed to the board by the governor of the state.
