Perfect Circle Piston Ring company plant returned to work today after agreement between the company and the United Automobile Workers union over the wage provisions in a
union contract.
Employes receive a wage increase of 6 Vi cents an hour with a minimum of 50 cents an hour and a five cent increase with a 25 cent bonus for night workmen. The 40 hour week and time and a half pay for overtime previously established will be con-
tinued.
The union has been recognized by the company as the sole collective bargaining agent for the employes.

The Brick Chapel Ladies Aid of the M. E. Church will hold their June meeting Thursday, at the home of Mrs. Chris Knauer, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Huffman lefttoday for Tulsa, Okla., where they will attend the wedding of their granddaughter on Sunday, June 27th. Mrs. Heubert Innis of Rushville and Mrs. Robert Morrison of Shelbyville have returned to their homes after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cannon, Northwood. Miss Violet Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Long, who recently moved to Warren county from this city, has been awarded a scholarship to Indiana University. While skating on south Vine street Tuesday evening, Lealian Smith, age 7 years, fell and suffered a fractured arm. She was taken to the county hospital for treatment. Mrs. John E. DeLong, chaperon of the Delta Zeta sorority sailed today from New York on the S. S. Queen Mary for a tour of Europe. She will return to Greencastie about the mid-
dle of August.
Harry Ragsdale, city fireman, has about recovered from the injury of his foot, received when he stepped on n rmtt-nt-tfw Eiteljorge fire several ■ days ago. The wound was sore for a time, but no infection occurred.

PERU, Ind., June 23.— (UP)— Authorities maintained a close watch gi i over the jail cell of Mrs. Evelyn Sj James Mead, charged with stabbing j|j | her husband to death with an eight(h) inch butcher knife today after the 23-year-old prisoner was discovered in an apparent suicide attempt. Sheriff Robert A. Tillrtt thwarted the alleged suicide effort when he discovered the woman tying together strips of cloth tom from a blanket
in her cell.
Meanwhile, the young woman steadfastly maintained that she knifed Charles Nead, 25, to death in self defense after he had beaten her. She said the dispute arose as result of a quarrel with her husband in a
tavern.
Authorities revealed today that last February Nead filed suit for ani| nulment of his marriage. He chargEjied his wife was already married to Elmer James, now serving a robbery ^ term in the Illinois penitentiary. LANHAM DIVORCE Thomas Lanham, of Greencastie, route 3, is plaintiff for divorce from Garnet Lanham. In his complaint he states they were married June 23, 1931, and separated May 12, 1937, on which date she left a note for him, so the complaint alleges stating she was “through" and telling him to get a divorce. Tho complaint mentions extravagant purchases, driving their automobile a thousand miles every two weeks, absence from home five or six days a week, being gone for hours and refusing to inform him of reasons for such absences.
