PAPERS ATTAC K C IH R( H I BERLIN, April 29. (UP' Nazi i newspapers opened a broadside at- ' tack on the Roman Catholic church today and threatened trial of hundreds of priests on charges of immorality, the evidence, in some cases, to be broadcast through the nation by radio. Col.-Gen Herman Goering's newspaper organ, the National Zeitung of Essen, asserted that more than 1,000 priests were held in prisons awaiting trial on immorality charg-
es.
The article in this and other newspapers intimated that if the church continued complaints that Nazis were persecuting priests, not only would the priests be tried but that the fullest possible publicity would be given to evidence that they ha I been guilty of sexual offenses. I All Berlin morning newspapers | joined in a vehement attack on the I church in connection with immorality trials already proceeding.

CHARGES MORGAN ( o AUDITOR In a suit venued to Putnam county from Morgan county, in which a physician seeks to collect fee from a township trustee for medical services on poor relief, the township trustee has filed an answer and cross-com-plaint, in which he, in turn, seeks to collect from the plaintiff physician. The suit is that of George B. Breedlove against Washington Township, of Morgan county, brought to Putnam Circuit court some months ago. In ids cross-complaint, the trustee of Washington township, of that county claims $100 due him from th; plaintiff, because, in 1934, the lattei filed three claims, totalling $100 against that township, all dated March 20, which were allowed by th< county commissioners and to pay which the Morgan county auditoi drew warrants which were honor:* by the treasurer, and the total sum charged against the township. Thi: entire transaction, the trustee claim. 1 in his cross-complaint, was done ‘'wrongfully, unlawfully, and withou' right.” Tne township officer says he had no appropriation to pay such claims, and had none to pay the othei claims which are the basis of the present suit.

The Story To Date While Kiny Philip of Spain is preparing to send out his mighty Armada to destroy England, Queen Elizabeth sends young Michael Ingolby to the Spanish Court to learn the names of traitorous Englishmen who are plott'.ny against her Michael is detected by the Spaniards but makes his escape from the Court and races on horseback for the coast to apprise the Queen of what ho has learned, and also to claim his sweetheart Cynthia, the Queen’s yyiaid-in-waiting.
Chapter Six
High
up on a cliff overlooking the English Channel, the watrhmen had waited for days upon end, straining their eyes ever northward for a glimpse of the hated enemy chips whenever they should heave Into sight. At Iasi the day had come. One lifter another, like tiny specks growing imperceptibly larger, the omineus sails appeared on the horizon. There seemed no end to their numb G X*
of a King of England, too! Not Spain nor any Prince of Europe shall dare to invade the borders my realm! Pluck up your hearts' By your peace " She was interrupted by the clamor of a tired, haggard man trying to break through the ranks and approach her, struggling with her bodyguard. "Let him approach! 1 ' cried the Queen. The man flung himself to his knees before her. It was Michael. "Majesty," he gasped, "The news from Spain"’ Alone with her and Leicester inside the Queen's tent, Michael poured out the story of what ha had learned nt the Spanish Court, of the duplicity of the English conspirators. The Queen wasted not a moment. Shs sent to th' i tents to summon them all before hei Meanwhile. with impulsive gratitude, she took Leicester's sword and conferred knighthood upon Michael. "Your Grace! Your Grace!” breathed the boy, unable to say more. Elizabeth then confronted the conspirators. Caught in their atrocious crime, they offered their lives in payment. "Nay. my sons,” cried the Queen.
The uinJ bore them closer ami closer to the towcrinij Spanish ships.
"The Armada! The Armada!" The hoarse cry was taken up and flung from one to another along the line of watchers. Torches licked at the bases of signal beacons — in a few minutes the flames were leaping high overhead. Meanwhile the couriers leaped on their waiting mounts and dashed toward London to oarry the news tc 1 he Court and to the army, spreading the call to arms: "The Armada! The Armada!” Queen Bess and her subjects were ready. Drake's ships were straining at their cables. And the army, led by Leicester, was already encamped at Tilbury. To Tilbury, against the advice of her fa'thfui, Burghley, Elizabeth resolved to go, sped on by a message from Leicester that her army and her people needed the comfort of hw presence (and neglecting to mention that he needed her most of all). “In the meantime, at the Court, Cynthia had been growing more and more distraught at the absence of any news from Michael. "Do you think he will come back?" she BkSlCGd. "I'm not Providence," retorted the Qiaen. "But what does Your Grace think?" “I have seen blacker fears turn to hopes. Hope on till you know there is none.” Into the camp at Tilbury Elizabeth marched on horseback, motioned away the crowd of flunkies waiting upon her, and addressed herself directly to her army of wildly cheering Englishmen. "My people! I am come to live and die amongst you all, to lav down for my God and for my kinddom and for my people, mv honor gnd my blood, even in the dust. I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and valour of a Kini and
There is a better way to die! S:r Michael Ingolby, come here. I shall give you a command, tf you took seven little ships, tarred them, and piled them with firewood, and so sailed out siglehanded against the Armada ... if you took not swords in your hands, but torches . . " In the cold, blurred light of an English dawn, Sir Francis Drake's little fleet, outnumbered and outmanned by the gigantic Armada, put out to do them battle. .As they hove into the channel seven small vessels darted forward from among the English fleet anti. they approached the Snanish ships, buret into roaring flames from stem to stern. Thus heroicallv died the six conspirators — soma by fire, some under the Spanish guns, some by leaping overboard and drowning^ But Michael, more agile than the rest, having driven his flaming ship square into the rigging of a ish galleon leapt into the water ami safely reached the side of an English vessel. There, as the two fleets joined in combat, he led the hand-to-hand fighting that ended in the complete rout of the Spanish Armada and victory for the Queen, her brave fighters, and her subjects. Following the victorious battle. Michael returned to London to claim his lovely Cynthiar. "You are back with me, you are back," she half laughed, half sobbed "I'll never let you go away again!" All London was echoing to the exultant music of a thousand pealing belle. "Listen to our wedding bells’." cried Cynthia. "It's over, dear, it’s over,” he murmured, holding her close. "Oh, Michael! It feels as if all the world were washed clean' "No past, no future — just you and I, darling — free!" THE END.
