An Open Statement
In view of what happened in our community last Wednesday, we the undersigned citizens desire to openly express ourselves with respect to the future welfare of this community. For the past one hundred years the peo* pie of this county have enjoyed the full rights of property ownership and protection of our families, and it is assuredly desirable that such conditions should persist. Organized labor has played a prominent part in the building of true Americanism in every' community and stands as we well know, for the maintenance of law and order throughout our country. Therefore, let it be clearly understod that we are not entering into any controversy whatsoever as to whether a laboring man should or should not belong to a labor union. However, we do intend to make it a vital part of our business to join with all good citizens in this community in stamping out every form of unfair practice, every hint of violence and method and everything contrary to Americanism at its best form whatever individual or organization they may emanate.
