Seventeen fifth and sixth grade girls met In community hall Thursday evening. After an hour of fun the group decided to meet each Thursday evening for work and play, under the leadership of DePauw Y. Mrs. Archie Allen reported on the work being done by the Golden Wheel, which is the junior group of Washburn chapter. This group is helping needy high school students and also trying to increase the membership of the chapter. The regent asked the members to attend the state council meeting at the Columbia club in Indianapolis on March 19. NOTED STATESMAN DIES LONDON, March 17 (UP)—Widespread sympathy and tributes to his statesmanship were expressed ] today after the sudden death of Sir Austen Chamberlain, for 44 years a member of the British parliament and one of its most respected elder statesmen. He died last night of a heart attack in his South Kensington home, few minutes after rising from a -ick bed to take a walk. He was 73.
GUARDIAN APPOINTED Philip C. Seller appeared in circuit court Wednesday and. through Attorney Wilbur S. Donner. asked that the court appoint a guardian for him. on the grounds that he is a spendthrift and unable to handle his financial interests. The court appointed Mr Donner guardian, at the request of the petitioner. A complaint against Seller had been filed by Grace S Wass. Seller has a small interest in 80 acres of land in Hendricks county and the same portion cf interest in a residence property on south Jackson street in Greencastle
TWO BAD MEN IN PUTNAM CAR Two men who drove an automobile with a Putnam county license to the place of business of a used-car dealer in Indianapolis. Tuesday are objects of inquiry by both Indianapolis police and the Greencastle police department*. They left the car with the Putnam license parked in the street at the dealer's place, then took one of ois used cars out on a trial run. but soon returned, and took away both cars, not paying the dealer for the used car. The inquiries have not revealed the name* of the men and there is suspicion they have stolen the Putnamlicense car as well as the used car. The latter carried the dealer's plates.
