Republican, indicated approval of suggestions to resign before his term as governor expires Jan, 5, thereby paving the way for his appointment as United States senator by the lieutenant governor, who would succeed him in office. Such n move was overshadowed by the present status of Lieutenant Governor Robert Peterson, now at liberty under $15,000 bond following his arrest Saturday in connection with an alleged shortage of $170,000 In his bank at Centerville, S.
