PERSONAL AND L0CALNEWS Mrs. Lena Staten returned to her home Wednesday from the county hospital. Crescent Rebekah lodge No. 763, will meet in regular session tonight at 8 o’clock. Mrs. Verplank and baby returned to their home Wednesday from the county hospital. Charles Pickens of Floyd township entered the county hospital Wednesday for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gardner and Mrs. Tullia Haymer left Wednesday i a motor trip to North Carolina. There will be morning and evening services on the first and third Sundays of each month at the Putnamvillc M. E. church. Mrs. D. O. Moffett, south College Avonue, left today for New York where she will visit her daughter, Mrs. Robert Fcemster. Bee Hive Rebekah degree staff and all members interested in the degree are requested to meet at the hall tonight at 7:30 o’clock.

Alpha Theta Epsilon sorority of Central Normal college, Danville, pledged Geneva Cooper of Greencastle, Louise Fowler of Indianapolis and Jean Imel of Tell City for the first term of the school year. At the same meeting Mrs. C. H. Griffey, wife of the president of C. N. C. and Mrs. R. Beagley, a member of the faculty, were initiated as honorary members. Hubert Dirks, of Greencastle was a member of the Indiana Law School at Indianapolis debating team which was honored at a special convocation of the student body yesterday. Each member of the team was awarded a gold key in recognition of his service. The team was undefeated in the Indiana Debating Conference. of colleges and Universities during the 1935-36 season. It is the only squad from any college, university, or law school to achieve such a record. Miss Lorene Hicks, daughter of Mrs. Ida Hicks of Stilesville, was honored at the annual conference of extension workers at Purdue university last week by being elected president of the home demonstration agents of Indiana. This also makes Miss Hicks vice president of the County Agents Association of Indiana. Miss Hicks was a successful

vocational teacher of home econ|omics for six years in the Greencas- | tie high school and at present is home demonstration agent of Parke county with headquarters at Rockville. There are at present twentyfive agents in the state of Indiana.
