CHU’US IS t’O.MING Lewis Bros, big throe-ring circus, one of the best equippe.l motorized shows of its kind, travelirg on a big fleet of silver-gray trucks and trailers and carrying a personnel of about 450 people, is coming our way and will exhibit at Greencas'le Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Handy field opposite thp Pennsylvania depot, with performances at 2 and 8 p. m. Tom Cooper, famous young western movie star, and his Hollywood company of roughriders are making, by special permission and for a short time only, a personal appearance tour with the Lewis Bros, circus and will be presented in daring feats of stunt riding both afternoon and night. The W. H. M S. will meet at Aid house Friday afternoon. Day Gleaners of the M. E church will be entertained Sept. 7. at the home of Mrs. Charles Sm;th. Mrs. Anna Day was hostess to the Alpha Gamma Pi sorority Aug. 25. Those present were Mrs. Emily Herod, Mrs. Eusie Ruark, Mrs. Nona Campbell, Mrs Irene Ferrand, Mrs. Mary Lisby, and Mrs. Thelma Edmonds and daughter of Fowler. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Mary Giore of Greencastle will be hostess to the meeting the last Tuesday in
September.
Stitch and Chatter club met Wednesday with Mrs. Carrie Cline at Bethel. Kighteen members were present. Mrs Emma Smith had charge of the entertainment. Mrs. Nona Campbell and the hostess won the prizes. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Elsie Ruark.
Twelve members responded to roll call. One guest, Mrs.Lota Robinson, was present. The meeting was opened by singing the club song. Mrs. Lillie Wright read a Bible story. Mrs. Thelma Wright had a paper on “American Home Life, Early and Modern.” Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs Katie Bastin will be hostess to the next meeting. Sunday dinner guests of Miss Iva Elliott were Mrs. Josephine Shook and J. T. Elliott of Indianapolis. Mrs. Theodore Brown and daughter Shirley Ann have returned home from Greencastle. Miss Emma Ruth Wright was a dinner guest Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lisby and daughter. Mrs. Katie Bastin and granddaughter Lucille Bastin are visiting in St. Louis with Mr. and Mrs. C. 1. ing in all his screen appearances. The two hour performance of the Lewis Bros circus promises to be a most interesting one. Daring aerialists and acrobats will put the crowds on edge with their thiilling feats, there will be a great number of wild and domestic animals presented in sensational acts, showing training to perfection. Young lions will appear in a steel arena, bears will wrestle dogs of every breed and size and will do acrobatic stunts, there will be an elephant act and many other animal numbers. Two scores of highly trained stock horses and cute ponies will appear in all three rings and on the hippodrome track of the circus under the guidance of fearless riders and expert trainers. This circus is known as presenting some of the best horse acts in eircuhdom.
