Ruby and Betty Allee of Belle Union spent the weekend with their grandmother, Mrs. Effie Allee, south l.oeust street. Burlie Tucker. Ill Elizabeth street, who underwent a major operation at tlie county hospital Tuesday morning is reported improving. Hal Stark of Fitchburg, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. John Stark and Miss Mary Stark of Daytona Beach, Fla., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C A. Stark, at Morton. Word has been received here of tlie death of H Ross Murphy, brother of Mrs. T C Cox, east Seminary street. Mr. Murphy was associated with the First National Bank in Terre Haute Officials of the Greencastle Softball Association announced this morning that sealed bids for concession rights at tlie city park during the coming season must be left with Maynard Johnson by Monday, May 25. The bids will be opened and considered at a meeting of the softbull board Monday night. | Gobin Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church will hold a very important business session in the Keystone chapel this evening at 7 o’clock. The Business of the Fourth Quarterly Conference will be conducted. The heads of the several departments of the church will present written reports. Dr. J. E. Porter, the new District Superintendent of the Greencastle District will preside. Members of the congregation as well as Official members are cordially invited.

Roy Philips. Brazil R. 5. was admitted to the county hospital Monday for treatment Helen Cagle of Cloverdule entered the county hospital Tuesday morning for treatment. The condition of Mrs. Arthur Geabes of Greencastle, who underwent a major operation at the Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis, Tuesday, is reported fair. Aden Campbell of Coatesville was elected chairman of the fifth district funeral directors at a meeting held at the Lincoln hotel May 8. This district includes Marion. Hendricks. Morgan, Johnson, Shelby and Hancock counties. Miss Hollis McClung, sixth grade teacher in the Third Ward school, underwent a hlood transfusion at the Putnam county hospital Wednesday niorning. James Clendenning, high school junior, was the donor of the blood. He was selected from a group of thirty boys who had volunteered for the transfusion. Miss McClung's condition was reported favorable Wednesday afternoon. The local Spanish War veterans and Ladies auxiliary have received an invitation to attend a memorial service to be held in Milligan Park at Crawfonlsville, Sunday afternoon May 24 at 1.10 o’clock. The Crawfordsville Spanish war organization has arrangi d an interesting program and will dedicate a cannon which is being placed in tlie park commemorating the Spanish American war.
