INSTILL Af qi'lTTEI) (riintlnneil From Pstir One! company ♦ent Into receivership in April, 1932, Martin lost his presidency and with it, he claimed, virtually all of his fortune. He went to Canada. After 17 months and protracted international procedure, he was brought back under guard. Immigration officials stopped the party at Detroit. Insull was charged with illegal entry because he had remained out of the country more than six months without renewing his visa. He was paroled to Lieut. Prank Johnson of the state’s attorney’s office at Chicago. In the event he clears himself of all criminal charges, Johnson could turn his technical prisoner over to immigration authorities here for deportation to England. Although Martin has resided in the United States since he was 18 years old, he has remained a British subject. Should he be sent back, he could return later as an immigrant as one of Great Britain’s quota. Martin and Samuel dropped in on the annual criminal courts building Christmas party. Two girl celebrators kissed Martin. "The verdict,” he said, "proves that people do not think we are guilty v-hen they are given all the evidence in our cases." He said he would spend the holidays at the home of a daughter in Morrocco. Ind. After that * “I can’t make any other plans,” he stated. "I still face the other trial. But it's going to be a happy Christmas for the Innulls." The Jurors disclosed they had taken 11 ballots. The first whs nine to three for acquittal; the others until the final vote were ten to two to free the defendant. The last was unanimous in Ids favor. The contention, I hey reported, centered on his intenlentions when he drew the $344,720. Prosecutors, who have been investigating the* Insull debacle since 1932. accepted the reverse philosophically They still have another chance to convict Martin in the January trial. Samuel is scheduled to appeal- in Judge Harrington's court on an embezzlement charge on Jan. 17. District Attorney Dwight H. Ci sen. who has charge of the case, declined to comment when informed of Martin’s acquittal Rumors that the federal charges would not be

America’s No. 1 actor, George M. Cohan, conies to the Granada Sunday and Monday in "Gambling.” He has the role of a New York gambler, whose daughter elopes with a shipboard acquaintance at quarantine, and is murdered. The lover is accused of the crime, tried, and acquitted. Dissatisfied with the way the police and district attorney have bandied the case, the gambler becomes his own detective. He plays the role of lover to two women friends of the acquitted man, and finds a clue which he pursues to a dramatic solution. "Marie Galanti" is showing at the Granada tonight. It is the story of a girl who is kidnaped from her home in France and awakens aboard a ship bound for South America. She escapes from the boat on the Central American coast and makes her way to the Canal Zone, hoping to secure funds to return hope. There she becomes involved with a group of international spies where she is mistaken for an agent of a foreign country. Spencer Tracy and Ketti Gallian arc starred.

Castle Square In case you are interested in the prices paid for good looking dames during good old days in Bagdad, don’t miss the slave market scene in "Chu Chin Chow," at the Castle Square theater Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The story is a free adaption of the tale "AH Baba and the Forty Thieves." in which the powerful bandit chief. Aim Hasan, murders the rich merchant, Chu Chin Chow, and disguised, as his victim, plots to plunder ami murder the wealthy, avaricious Kasim Baba of Bagdad. The latter's brother, AH. discovers the secret of the robbers’ cave, crammed with treasure, where Kasim ultimately meets his death at the outlaws' hands. Hasan’s plots are frustrated by* the subtle arts of the Chinese slave girl Zahrat. who lures the chieftain to his doom. "When a Man Ses Red.” featuring Buck Jones, headlines the bill Satur-
