INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 14 Tlie state, excise department today threatened beer dealers who are' selling whiskey by the drink or in package f ,! m. with revoca'ion of their beer |»ormits if the sale of the stronger lif|U(|or is not stopped. At the same time Harold C. Feightner, executive director, of the Indiana Brewers’ association, announced Indiana breweries ate re iucing the cost of the beverage t.i wholesalers and retailers with the result a ’•real" glass of beer for a nickel now is possible. The reduction in the cost of beer, Feightner raid, is ma le possible by the brewers absorbing the froiglp costs both on mtgoing beer and the returning of the empty containers. The excise department’s threat to retail beer dealers was contained in a bulletin prepared by Sam H. l^sh, deputy state excise director, for distribution to the retailers. The bulletin said “positive evidence” has been obtained that some retail beer dealers are selling whiskey both by the drink and by the package. Under the Indiana law .whiskey can be sold only by the package and only in ■ rug stores.

COLLECT DELINQUENT TAXES INDIANAPOLIS,—Field agents of the state gross income tax division collected more than $(12,000 in delinquent gross inco<rro taxes, penalties and interest during July, it was announced today by Clarence Jackson, director of the division. Approximately $27,000 had been collected in April, and $25,000 during each of the months of May and June, Jackson said. Approximately $17,0(H) of the July total was collected by field agents covering regular territories, it was said, while the remainder was collected by special agenW engaged in seeking out persons and firms that failed to f ile returns. Jackson asserted that for the protection of citizens who have filed returns properly and paid the correct amount of tax, every effort is being made to ascertain that the tax is paid by all who owe. Tax collections during the present quarterly period already are within a few thousand dollars of the total for the last period, he said, and several weeks remain before books are to be closed for the quarter. Penalties on delinquent taxes range from 10 per cent to 50 |)er cent of the
