Cloverdale Lodge Entertained Guests Cloverdale Chapter, No. 869. Order f the Eastern Star, entertained Friday evening with a covered dish dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Janies Hartsaw and Mrs. Grace Hurst and family, who are moving to Greencastle. Mrs. Hartsaw and Mrs. Hurst have been members of the Cloverdale O. E. S. chapter for a number of years and have lieen loyal workers, ever ready to carry oven more than their share of the work. They will he missed by the Cloverdale lodge. The hall was decorated with garden Tlcwers, rich in fragance and beautiful in the blending of delicate iues In the center of the room was a long table, fairly groaning beneath the load of delicious food. The crowd of about eighty were seated around the room waiting for the airival of the honored guests, who knew nothing of the affair. At the proper time, Mrs. Gill escorted them to the hall in a very clever manner under the pretense of going to Mt. Meridian. To -ay that the guests were surprised is to put it in a mild way. Following the meal the remainder of the evening was spent in music, contests and a sleight of hand perperformance under the direction of Lee Walters and Cohn L. Morris-on respectively. Several talks were given and all extended best wishes to Mrs. Hartsaw and Mrs. Hurst as they move to their new homes. ++++++ Annual Picnic Held Wednesday The West Madison Home Economics Club held its annual picnic at the Irwin park in Bnmerstown on Wednesday, August 16, with Mrs Oscar Iiwin as hostess. All the members brought well filled baskets and the noon hour a bountiful dinner wa* enjoyed. Ice cream was served in the afternoon. The children gave a program of readings and songs. A reading hy the hostess was an added feature. The members and families enjoyed the swings, croquet and checker games. Forty were present. The next meeting of the club will be with Mrs. FieJ Johns on Sept. 6. + + + •!• + •!• Madonna Hurst Bride Of Edward J. Becker The wedding of Miss Madonna Hurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hurst, east of Greenrastle, and Edward J. Hecker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Hecker of Indianapolis, took place Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. B. W Alvis, 3521 north Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis.
FLAT R ATE SYSTEMS STARTED IN HOSPITAL EVANSTON, III., (UP) — A flat rate system, with the exception of physician’s fee-, has been established in an Evanston hospital. Instead of an individual paying for many items of service when his stay at the institution is concluded, he pays on the basis of a flat rate, which includes a room, ranging in price from $7 to $20 nnd all other services required, which ma> include x-ray work, laboiatory tests, basal metabolism tests, nurses, food, and the use of the npetating room. The change to the new system was announced by the hoard of the hospital association as a means of meeting present day conditions. It bad lieen considered for two years. In the maternity ward the average bill is from $15 to $25 less than under the old system.
