Jan. 18, (UP)—Tnkio police today released the names of 238 alleged communists arrested in a na-tion-wide seties of raids which began lu-t October 80, revealing that several prominent Japanese were held. Among those held for trial as asserted c .mmunists were Dr Haiime Kawakami, former professor of Kyoto Imperial university, and Nobom Ozaki, foimer justice of the Tnkio distriit court. Thirty-four women were in the group. Police announced that a total of 7,0(i0 persons have been arrested during the | a d year as communists, including 107 women. The police drive against communistic activities has been intensified during recent months as a result of asserted increased efforts of communists to organize sympathizers into a nationwide group.
