Gwin decided to be gracious. .“Nita, you must let me present my accompanist. This will he the biggest day of her life. Come over here, Lily. You're going to meet the great Nita Nahlman—” Lily Lou came forward, a little ahy, her cheeks flushed and Nahlman took her hand, and smiled down at her from her superior height and sighed, half laughing, “Oh, to he so young again! “Oh, to he great enough to transcend first youth, first beauty!"
Gwin smiled back.

Lily Lou would hove been for gotten, if Dwight had not hod rea son of his own for changing the

He took her arm now, pushed hir toward Nahlman. “Stop badgering an innocent man, Nita Now you're here ait down for five minutes. See what you think of my latest.” “Oh, she sings—that one?” Nahlman looked at Lily Lou, with something like interest in her heavy-lidded eyes. She glanced at the small clock on a seventeenth century chest. “Yen, but in five minutes I must go. 1 sail WednesJay.
