DePauw Orchestra Pleases Audience
BRAZIL CROWD GIVES PERFH T ATTENTION PO i m \BRSITY MUSICIANS ‘ Speaking of iIih appearance of the DePauw university syinphonic orchestra at Brazil the Brazil Ti ne- of that city says that an audience of fifteen hundred at the high school gymnasium Sunday afternoon proved most re ceptive and appreciative of the classical concert given by the DePauw Pni versity Symphony orchestra and demonstrated its pleasure with vigorous applause. Rowland Leach, conductor, and Vernon Sheffield, pianist, were compelled to make their l ows several times. The large audience scattered o. t the big gymnasium, gave perfei I -u tention and attentive ear to a pro gram of Beethoven music so much in contrast to the music one hears in popular concerts and seemed to appreciate the numbers mostly iu C
minor, and not at all spectacular The three short pieces which followed the slow movement. Be^hoven numbers were some-what in contrast and gave more of an opportunity for the orchestra of eighty-five pieces to use the volume which it' possesses.
