safest answer to this question we will work out for ourselves if we estimate the loss that comes to those who leave it out of life. Real courtesy goes far beyond simple social etiquette or good manners. However, if we even went no farther than this it has its value, i The squib editor says: “Nothing in courtesy! Nor in balloon tires! Simply changes jar to joy!” Who has not felt the shock of an awkward position relieved by a gracious host or a sympathetic comrade? Is there any element that enters into that indefinable something we call personally more than a courtesy that puts those around us at ea c e We think it ha? univer=al admiration. Would it not be a motal offense to suggest to another the absenre of courtesy in his dealings? We doubt if there is any single characteristic more appreciated. It is within the reach of all who would possess it, yet as the de«ert parched for rain, so is our w f irk-a-day life often bleak and bare on account of the lack of this simple reviving grace. —SOWER. Mrs. Frances Kennedy, of Russellville, has returned to her home after undergoing a major operation at a Crawfordsville hospital three weeks ago.
