Our old friend, Russell Alexander, DePauw publicity director; former sports scribe for the Washington Herald and the Rushville Republican, and who writes “Hardwood Hash" for the Associated Press, comes out today with his choice for the [PRe late high school basketball cham-
pions.
Ifis pick is GREENCASTLE! If you will remember, last year “Alec” selected the Tiger Cuhs and the boys only lost out in the final •-'•nine against the Muncie Bearcats. His logic i-; sound and as he has seen radically all of the teams in action during the winter, his choice L cer tainly possible. It sure looks good to us! “Aloe’s'’ letter picking the Cuhs follows:
Held in Fatal Anti-Ford Kiol
ket pivot shots. Tucker Stone dominating the long side shots. Dawson dominating the defense and interception of passes. Hurst dominating the cracks from center of the floor. Hammond, dominating the follow-in shots What a combination! Then in reserve, S’eley to strengthen the defense. Godfrey to add speed I and flash. Hauck and Campbell to add height, McGill to fill out the ten and Concilia to throw in towels and carry the hall to and from the dressing room. What a team, what a I chance! GREENCASTLE VOE’RE MA i CHOICE! —“Aleck”.
A Tiger fan writes regarding state finalists who Greencastle has played during the season:

Dear Mr. Tabs: I he vital question of the day seems In be; “What Chance Does Greencislle Have in the Slate Tourna-
ment 7”
Last y. ar the Tiger Cuhs wanted that old title badly and only prayed for a chance. They got it- The drawing favored Greencastle and they went to the finals where Jack Mann and his Muncie Bearcats proved a hit too muchThis year it seems to me, the thing is reversed. The title is there for tit IF THEY WANT IT BADLY ENOUGH! There is no doubt in my mind but that the Tiger Cuhs can take on any team there IP' THEY AVANT ’IT). It is going to depend entirely on the attitude of the team and the individual players. There is no doubt that individually Greencastle has the boys capable of annexing that 1932 crown. It is go ing to mean however, that the five on the floor must play as a team and not five individuals. In other words, if that old spirit of the Three Musketteot could lie incorporated: “All for one and one for all” then the Five Basketeers of Greencastle can come
through.
The big “break’ ’in favor of the Tiger Cubs has been the elimination, of teams that might be classed as ‘doubtful” in the minds of Tiger' Cub fans. If Greencastle had to meet Muncie again, there would be the, shaking of a few heads. But Muncie, isn’t there. Just take the schedule as it comes. Vincennes can certainly beat Cicero. J Seymour should give Newcastle a runj for the money hut the Trojans should win. Wiley of Terre Haute j and Connersville will put up on a tougher battle still, but for the sake! of argument, lets pick Connersville, since we know WileV. Greencastle can licat Columbia City. The Lebanon Delphi game should be tough, and again just for a tossup lets say Lebanon. Winamac and Bluffton will not figure in the final result, so its Bluffton- Bosse of Evansville and Michigan City, with Michigan City winning. Columbus and Tech, the feature game of the first round. Tech is a tournament team, hut Columbus is plenty hot for one game, so it would not surprise this writer to see Columbus win although Tech is the better for four games. Its a toss-up with the winner probably going to the finals. The second round: \incennes and Newcastle, a real scrap due to the superior weight of the Alices. Newcastle favored to win through defensive ability. Greencastle and Connersviile (or Wiley). If it’s Wiley, Okeh. The Cubs will welcome such a chance. If it is Connersville, again Okeh. for the Spartans had a terrible time with Rushville, and the Cubs know Rushville. Then, Lebanon and Bluffton. with Lebanon again favored. Michigan City and Columbus (or Tech), with the latter winning. Semi-finals: Newcastle (or Vincennes) and Greencastle. If it is V incennes, Great! If it is Newcastle, it will be tougher, but there is so little difference in the sizes of the two team 0 , that the Tiger Cubs can count on an even break, MoAnally should control the tip over Huffman who is noted as a guard and not a center. Lebanon and Columbus (or Tech) The latter to win with less trouble. THE FINALS: Greencastle and Columbus (or Tech). A real game between evenly matched teams with Greencastle winning — IF UHEY WANT TO BADLY ENOUGH! McAnally and Edwards of Tech, what a battle between star centers. And now for the team itself. Individually they rank with the best- Mr. Bloemker of the Indianapolis Star says that the team that wins the state tournament must have one player who dominates the play How about one player that dominales each phase of play? class of the Attica regional. —o— (Crawfordsville Journal) By the simple process of scoring a field goal al approximately 2:59'j o’clock on Saturday afternoon, Greencastle will represent this regional at the “cowbarn" next Friday—and perhaps Saturday— instead of Crawfordsville or Clinton. It's a shame the way that Greencastle jinx continues to hover over Crawfords vilLe's head. The Athenians haven't scored a basket ball victory over the Cuhs since way hack in ’24 or '25 nr sumthin’ including tournaments. —o— (The Daily Clintonian) A powerful rally that has marked Greencastle’s sensational record against the best teams in the state during the past season was too much for the Clinton Wildcats in Saturday night's regional finale at Attica the Tigers winning out 26 to 20. It simply was a case of the Tigers having the strength left to pull the game out of the fire, while the Clinton crew, which played a marvplou c brand of basketball for 29 minutes of the tilt, was unable to cope with such a display of powerIt was a hard game for the Wildcats to lose, especially after the manner in which they had disposed of the over-confident Hillsboro fivo in the afternoon, and then led the strong Greencastle team nearly all the way Each member of the Wildcat team put out every ounce of effort he had and Clinton fans can be well assured that the Wildcats went down fighting to a team that is thus classed as one of the sixteen best teams in Hon-ier-
dom.

\T THE GRANADA Dorothy Mftokail, starred in “Safe in Hell,” the First National melo drdma which comes to the Granada theater tonight, is not only an admirer of the blues, but at expert at singin’ ’em. Not that she does so in “Safe in Hell," which presents her in a role of deep emotional depth—as a girl whose evil genius drives her to an island of outcasts and the shadow of the gallows. There are, however, in the grim sequences of “Safe in Hell," moments made melodious by the crooning of negro bluea singers. Two celebrated negroes are in the cast, Nina Mae McKinney and Clarence Muse who created the title roie of “Porgy” on Broadway.
