They spent about ten minutes in conference, then a 1 statement came out from Jacoby: “I have submitted my resignation i to Mr. Lenz. It is up to him.” Lenz came through with a statement: “I will have a new partner tomorrow night and for several additional sessions. Jacoby will return to
the match later.”
NEW YORK, Dec. 29, (UP)—Osward Jacoby, six-foot bridge star, proved that all other contract players aie brothers under the skin when he slapped on his stovepipe hat last night, swept up hi* walking sti<;k and stamped out of the Waldorf-Astoria with the declaration that Sidney Lenz wil lhave to get a new partner in the Culbertson-Lez epic bridge battle. Jacoby was mad. Just plain, down-
right mad.
'Mr. Lenz,” he said, rising from the t .ble at the close of last night’s session, “in hand 602, after making an absolutely stupid defensive play, you had the nerve to publicly criticize me for my bidding. I resign as your
par ner.”
And Jacoby stalked out of the play-
ing room, where he and Lenz, in spite t f their bickering, had knocked 250
points off the Culbertson lead. Ely Culbertson stood in the corridor

PHILADFJ.PHTA, (UP)— Fairchild Aircraft, L‘d., of Montreal, will operate the first autegiro to be used on skiis during the coming winter,! Fitcaim Autogiro officials said
he found 20 brown trout and brook dead along the shoreline. He explained that “these injuries are not caused by the fish endeavoring to eat each other, but to spawning activities. It occurs to a more or less degree each year. It is more prevalent and more noticable this season because of low water conditions.” With streams running low as a result of a long dry spell, a great number of the trout seek the headwaters of the main stream when the spawning season approaches, he said.

Means Reduction of the Number, Severity and High Costs of the Family’s Colds
Doubly welcome that the makers
to mothers is news of Vicks VapoRub
have perfected a Plan for better "Con-trol-of-Colds ’—to lessen the number and severity of colds and reduce their coSts in money, lost time and health. The plan is introduced along with Vicks Nose & Throat Drops, based on a new idea for presenting colds — companion product to VapoRub, the modern, external method of treating colds.
TRIAL OFFER BY LOCAL DRUGGISTS Vou have Vicks VapoRub — now get Vicks Nose Drops and use together as directed in the Vick PLfti for better "Control-of-Clblds”—to reduce their number and severity. Unless you are delighted with results, your druggist is authorized to refund your money.
1.
HERE, BRIEFLY, IS THE VICK PLAN;
BEFORE a Cold Starts
When Children come in sniffling arid sqgezing, apply a few Vicks Drops up each nostril. Use the Drops yourself at that first scratchy, snerzy irritation orthe nose or upper ^roat—Nature’s warning that you are “catching cold.” If you or the children catch cold easily, use the Drops after exposure to any condition you know ia apt to be followed by a cold —dry, over heated rooms—indoor crowds— sudden changes, wet or cold—dust and smoke— etc., etc.—and there is the slightest stuffiness. Used in time, many colds can be avoided-
2.
oAFTER a Cold Starts At night, massage the throat and chest well with Vicks VapoRub. Spread on thick and cover with warm flannel. Leave bed-efothing loose around the neck so that the medicated vapors arising can be inhaled all night long. During the day—any time, any place—use Vicks Drops as needed for ease and comfort. This gives you full 24-hour treatment—and without the risks of constant internal "dosing ” so often upsetting to digestion, especially ths
delicate digestions of children.
