Mary l'. younge-t child of James H. and Martha Ann Smith was born in Floyd township, this county; 72 years ago and passed away in her sleep at her home just 2 miles from her birthplace, April 30, 1931. Forty-eight years ago she was married to James Arnold, and to this 1 union were horn three children: Jessie 1 dying in infancy; Gmce at home and I Nell the wife of Cecil Bartlett. She leaves to mourn her loss the husband, two daughters, the son-in-law and a dear little niece Dorothy, whom she took into her home and has helped to rear: two brothers Joseph Smith of Floyd township and James
of Bailihridge.

(QUINCY, III., May 9 (UP) Robert Randall, th, villain in a church play, protested today to police that lie “did not know the gun was loaded" when he pulled the trigger and hot to death Mi. Mildred Hughes, It), tin heroine. Randall and Earl Wcisenhurger, owner of the pi lol, were ordered held for an inquest after Randall killed Miss Hughes dining rehearsal last night in the parlors of the Grace Methodist Episcopal church. Wcisenhurger also denied knowing the gun contained a real bullet. Fifteen young members of the church were rehearsing the play when the tragedy occurred. Some giggled as Randall pointed the pistol at Miss Hughes, made melodramatic display of villainy, and pul lied
