A substantial increase in the volume of business was shown. This would indicate that the people still have plenty of money for some purposes, chiefly pleasure. The people of the United States will give up almost anything else than their pleasures a on*' can readily see by visiting theaters, swimming pools, watching the number of Sunday motorists, park visitors and the like Nor does this applj" to just a few people, but to practically all of us. Nor : s there anything wrong in this atti tude, for, after all, most of us are striving that w-e may enjoy life. Boma pcoplt enjoy one thing and some ansther. One man may enoy eirarrettes, another driving a car, another sightseeing or traveling; another a good house or the ownership of much property. Other people, especially the women, enoy their clothes. It is an ininteresting study to not*- the thing' that different persons deny themaelv. es when their income is reduced Not is it proper that one person sitoulh criticize th*' other for differing in this respect.
