Goodlander, has filed a final report in the Putnam Circuit court, showing that four preferred creditors have been paid sixty percent of their claims and that there will he no funds available to pay the common claims. The repoit was approved by the court. CANDIDATE FOR SHERIFF Allen Eggers of Jackson township has announced hi- candidacy for the nomination for Sheriff of Putnam county, on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Eggers was born in Jackson township 41 yeais ago and has sp'mt his entire life on live farm where he now lives. Jackson is a strong Democrat township and has not been rep-te-ented with a county office for over in years except a district commis.-ion-er, and prosecuting attorney. Mr. Eggers comes from one of the oldest and largest Democrat families of the county and is making his third primary race for the nomination for
sheriff.
Mr. Eggers is well qualified for the office having received hi- grade and high school education in Putnam county, and business college course at Indianapolis. He states that the onlypromise he has to make to the voters is, that if elected, to serve the public to the best of his ability. DEPAUW ( H \I’EL Prophesying that the student of economics who was well versed in economic law would be in a position tome now to render a distinct service to the nation in helping to solve its unemploymt nt problem, Dr. G. Bromley Oxnam, president of DePauw University, used the unemployment situation as the basis for his chapel address here Wednesday. Not only did he encourage the student to delve into the field of economies hut stated that patrotism manifested itself more in helping o country to solve its serious problems than being able to stand and sing the right song at the right time. Dr. Oxnam indicated that he considered the unemployment situation as serious an I indicated that it was ‘‘fertile .soil" in which the seeds of communism coul I find root.
