GRAIN INCOME GREATER INDIANAPOLIS, June 25. (UP)Cash income from Indiana’s whea. crop thk- year may be considerablj greater than last year d. spite lower prices, which have retard'd grain movements to market, says the current University bureau of business
reseach.
Continuing with Indiana’s condition, the bulletin -aid: “Live stock prices were firm and receipts fairly large. The general agricultural outlook is good in spite of wet weather’s retarding influence
on corn."
General business is reported to have advanced in May over April levels and to have been considerably better than a year ago in most lines of trade and industry. The gi neral business index was 4 per cent above normal for the past 10 years, compared with 3:4 per cent above in April afid .5 per cent below normal
in May, 1928.
“With 16 rainy days in May, retail trade did well to go above the level of last year,” the report said. “Department store sales were about the same, but retail drugs made a good gain. Wholesale trade has Started a general recovery in recent months, and May will probably show gains over a year ago, although they will be of smaller proportions. New and used automobiles are still being sold in record numbers, but demand has slackened somewhat. Collection* are fair to slow in most sections.”
