LI.1 — Four Cart ress ‘ tried for murder in piimt court here on indict* P "'"'I hy the county grand f 18 m session here.
A nice evening’s work we’d call if'. The Tiger varsity snapped nut of it last night. They displayed fast offensive tactics throughout the forty minutes of play and the game was much enjoyed by the spectators. Crawley, Slone and Ragsdale looked especially good for DePauw while Harper, forward, and W. Abel, center, formed the scoring comhination for Ihe Purple tees. —0— Moffett started a shifted lineup using Costello and Ragsdale at forwards; Struck at center, and Crawley and Stone, guards. —o— The “shock troops" ran the score to 11-9 and “Tubby" then sent in Loveless, Mount/ and Stunkel. —0— The scorers were kept busy the next few minutes as the Tiger regulars, playing fast ball, ran it to 19-10. —0— In the meanwhile, Birch Bayh, the umpire from Terre Haute, was having a game all his own calling personal fouls on the Tigers. A slap on the wrist meant a free throw for Evansville. l,on Goldsherry, coach of the Shortridge iiigh school football squad, and former Wabash basket hall, hasv hall and grid star, turned in a good job as referee, t ome again. "Goldie." Soon after the second half got underway, “Red” Mount/, Old Gold center, was sent to the showers hy Mr. Bayh. Os Stone, DePauw high scoring forward, also left the floor due to the close decisions of the Terre Haute official, a few minutes later. —0— The Tiger outfit was a different aggregation last night and the game with Evansville should put them in the right condition for the tough scrap with Butler here, Friday evening. —0— Moffett used 9 men against the down-state quintet and they all looked pretty good to us. —o—■ The DePauw mentor changed from a slow offense to a fast brand of ball since the State Normal tilt and it certainly worked better in the estimation of all the local fans we talked to this morning. Congratulations "Tubby”. j BRING ON HI TLER: It sure looked good to see Masten, Hammond and Moffett in action. These three boys, products of Greencastle and Bainbridge iiigh schools and former hardwood court enemies work splendidly together and made 27 points, the same number that the entire Evansville freshman crew made. —0— Brindle, hack guard for the Methodist yearlings, with 3 field goals accounted for the difference in the score of the curtain raiser. With these four athletes to strengthen the varsity squad next winter, Moffett will not have to worry about basket ball material. —~“0 ■“ Now that DePauw is playing a fast brand of hall we would almost bet the gymnasium will he packed Frilay night for the battle with Coach Hinkle’s Bull Dogs. —0— Bausman, high school net mentor, officiated during the freshman game anil he worked up a good sweat. It’s a cruel woild, ain’t it Emerson ? —0— Mention of Bausman’* noble efforts as referee, reminds us that the Tiger Cubs will be hosts to Sullivan’s drapery agitators on Thursday evening. —d MAUL the MINERS, Cubs! Then, Friday night comes the De-Pauw-Butler engagement and on Saturday, Bausman and his proteges travel to Terre Haute to meet Jimmie Conover's Garfield snipers. —*0—• Next week—the SECTIONAL, Then the-—REGIONAL. Fuel system of the, new Ford has been designed for reliability;
and long service
<Sr 4
> / !
THE practical value of Ford simplicity of dcsipn in especially apparent in the fuel system. The gasoline tank is huilt integral with the cow I ami is unusually sturdy because it is made of heavy sheet steel, terne plated lo prevent rust or corrosion. An additional factor of strength is the fact that it is composed of only two pieces, instead of three or four, and is electrically welded—not soldered. Because of the location of the tank, the entire (low of gasoline is an even, natural How—following the natural law of gravity. This is the simplest and must direct way of supplying gasoline to the carburetor without variations in pressure. The gasoline feed pipe of the new Ford is only 18 inches lotifi and is easily accessible all the way. The gasoline passes from the tank to the carburetor llmmgh a filter or sediment hull) mounted on the steel dash which separates the ga-oline lank from the engine. The carburetor is spcciallv designed and lias hren huilt to deliver many thousands of miles
of good service.’Since all adjustments are fixed except the needle valve and idler, there is practically nothing to get out of order. '('he choke rod 011 the dash acts as a primer and also as a regulator of your gasoline mixture. The new hot-spot manifold insures complete vaporization of the gasoline before it enters the combustion chamber of the engine. As a matter of fact, the fuel system of the new Ford is so simple in design and so carefully made that it requires very little service attention. The lilter or sediment bulb should he cleaned at regular intervals and the carburetor screen removed and washed in gasoline. < Occasionally the drain plug at the bottom of the carburetor should he removed and the carburetor^ drained for a few seconds. Have your Ford dealer look after these little details for you when you have the car oiled and greased. A periodic chccking-up costs little, hut it has a great deal to do with long life and continMiously good performance.
