The mid-week prayer meeting of the Presbyterian church will he held in the church parlor tonight at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. Robert E. Buis and daughter, Roberta JoAnn, of Indianapolis are visitors at the G. G. Buis home, in Marion Township. Greencastle Encampment No. 59 I. O. O. F. will meet Friday night. The member- are asked to lx 1 present, work *>r no work. A final report was filed Thursday morning in the Putnam Circuit court in the estate of Albert S. Coffman. Glenn H. Lyons is the attorney for the administrator, Jesse E. Coffman. The city firemen made a run to the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Sharp, south Locust street, Thursday morning to extinguish a .-mail roof fire. The flames started from sparks falling from the chimney. Damage amounted to approximately $10. Willis E. Gill will have charge of the funeral services for Henry Eggers of Groveland who died sometime Wednesday. Services will he h/dd at eleven o’clock Friday morning axl interment will he in the New Maysville cemetery. Dr. Robert Moore of Indianapolis was called to Greencastle Thursday in consulation in the case of Cleve Thomas, who is suffering with pneumonia. Dr. W. M. McGaughey, attending physician, stated that Mr. Thomas passed a restless night, and his condition was not so good.
RETIRED MINISTER INJURED Dr. W. F. Walker, retired, of the North Indiana Conference, was ser-iou-ly injured Sunday, January 27, when an automobile in which he was riding with his daughter Grace, at Springfield, 111., skidded off the road and landed with great force against a stone abutment. Dr. Walker suffered u double fracture of his right hip. He is now in St. John’s Hospital Springfield, and is progressing toward recovery. Dr. Walker graduated ftom DePauw University in 186X, and is now eighty-two years old. He was hale and hearty until the time of his accident, and ha- been in the habit of walking six or seven miles every day. For thirty-three years he served as a missionary in North China, where his daughter Joyce is now teaching in a Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society I school —W. Christian Advocate. fortunate to secure Mrs. Florence Riddick Boys, State Probation officer for Indiana, as the speaker. Mrs. Boys is an intensely interesting speaker and talks on a -uhject that should draw every citizen m Greencastle, who is interested in the welfare of the boys and girls. Few know what is being done in the line of probation and it is hoped every school patron will plan to be at the meeting. There will be no admission. Mrs. Truman Yuncker is president of the P. T. A. Mrs. Orton and Mrs. Kelch entertained about thirty members and guests of the Woman’s Circle of the Presbyterian Church Wednesday at the Phi Gamma House on South College Ave. Mrs. L. H. Dirks had I charge of the program. Mrs. Carl Confer gave a splendid review of tim 4th chapter in tin* study book, “Friends in Africa.” A delightful musical program was given by a number of student- from the DePauw School of Music. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses during a pleasant social hour.

Former Resident Married Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ora Finney of Cloverdale are in receipt of an announcement of the marriage of Lawrence Herbert to Miss Alice Montgomery, which took place Saturday, February 9th, in Craig, Colo. Mr. Herbert formerly lived in Greencastle, and is well known here. Mr. Herbert is now living in Craig. •F 4" + d* ‘N Women To Observe ^ 5 "W orld Day of Prayer’’ Friday, Feb. 15th will be observed as World Day of Prayer by the women of the churches throughout America and in many other countries. This special day is sponsored by the Council of Women for Home Missions, and the Federation of Women’s Boards of Foreign Missions of North America. The Woman’s Missionary Organizations of the Greencastle Churches will observe this day with all day meetings at the Presbyterian Church. The general theme of the program is, “That They All May Be One.” The program is as follows: 10:30 a. m., Devotional service. 11:00 a. m., “One in Purpose,” Women of the Presbyterian Church. 11:30 a. m., “One in Service,” Women of the Christian Church. 12:00 noon, Luncheon at the church. (Each person is asked to bring sandwiches and one dish. No table ser-
vice).
