$1,464.24 l The League has just completed a most satisfactory year’s work, and the members have entered into the work for the following year with new zeal. ^ -i- d* Miss Thelma Hurst Married Saturday ” Friends in this city have received announcement of the marriage of Miss Thelma Jane Hurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Hurst of Champaign, III., and former residents of Greencastle, to Kepler S. Bowman, which took place Saturday, January 2fith in Indianapolis. Mrs. Bowman will be remembered here by her friends as she formerly attended the i Greencastle schools. •h + d’d-d'd" F.lrod-Hurst Nuptials Solemnized Saturday Miss Helen Hurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hurst of Mt. Mer- | idian and Frank Elrod, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Elrod, south of Coatesville were quietly married in Danville, HI., January 2f>th. They are at home at Mr. Elrod’s parents. She has trained them in dancing and acting and they are used by her in spectacles which she organizes for various film productions. In “Manhattan Cocktail,” which is a modern story of backstage life in Now York, the outstanding beauties appear in a brief prologue depicting a story of ancient Crete, ruler of the world 5,000 years ago. Incidentally, this is the first time that motion pictures have attempted to protray the life of that time, famous (or its luxury.

Brazil tilt:
On Friday night the team goes to Greencastle for the hie game with the Tiger Cubs and on Saturday goes on to Shelbyville. Three games a week are too many, of cour.-e. hut the schedule had to lie altered because the new gymnasium opening was delayed. Coach W. E. Bausman of Green-1 castle attended the Wabash Valley finals to get a line on both Brazil and Sullivan, future Cub opponent-. Coach Bausman this week will peint his crippled team toward the Brazil game here Friday night. The Cubs fell before Bniz.il in a dedication tilt j at the Clay county center several | weeks ago and the local mentor is de- j sirous of revenging this defeat. Ten cents to bet that Jimmy Toliin and Brown will both be hack in t o Tiger Cub-’ line-up Friday night and we hope they are. Jimmy would he the best floor guard in the -* 'te this year, as he was Inst, if" he would train right, and Brown is a dead shot from the center of the floor. Both are out of practice this week, so reports from I Greenca tle say. Gieencastle fans are anxiously | awaiting a ruling from Secretary Trester that will make Crow, new center from Clayton, eligible so that he can take part against Brazil Friday night. Well, ho can't he am better than Braz.il met in the Wabash Valley when 1 tall centers set mod to be the 1
rule.
The Brazil Junior High School team’s rather dim showing in the Greencai-tle invitational tournament was due to the fact that most of the regulars graduated at mid-year and went to Senior High which disqualifies them. Nance is about the only name we recognize in the line-up. The Grcincastle Junior High which won the tournament is about the hottest in these parts. The Iroy- have a goo I team work and are good goal shooters. If they hold together they ought to "ip good in High school later. Johnny Ward, former star of DeFauw is their coach.
